Outdoor Instructor Course - Training & Assessment Matrix
* Rock Climbing Instructor/Climbing Wall Instructor. After you have completed your training with Outdoor Adventure and before you can be assessed, you have to leave a gap which Mountain Training UK call the ‘consolidation period’. This period between training and assessment varies in length for each person (usually around 6 months) and is an opportunity to develop your skills, paying particular attention to any weaknesses identified during the training course. So we recommend you go climbing as much as possible following your course with us, to build up your experience and hone your skills before applying for assessment.
*Surf Coach Level 1. During your 16 week Instructor course at Outdoor Adventure you will receive lots of surfing tuition with qualified and experienced Surf England coaches and will significantly progress your surfing ability. Some course participants will already be surfers and therefore be well on the way regarding their surfing skill level to pass the personal surfing ability section of the Surf Coach Level 1 assessment. However if you have little or no surfing experience when you arrive for your course, it’s unlikely you will reach the required surfing ability to pass this practical section of the assessment while you are with us. If this is the case you may be deferred on this part of the Surf Coach Level 1 course and will need to be examined on your surfing ability again by Surf England in the future having spent more time in the water.[/column] [/row]
