Polzeath is a great surfing beach for beginners as the gradually shelving beach produces slow breaking, relatively weak waves which are perfect to build confidence in the water. Polzeath also offers a wide range of beachside restaurants, surf shops and bars and offers a pretty laid-back, surfer vibe. If you’re lucky enough to be chilling on the beach on a clear night you will be sure to catch a beautiful sunset dipping behind the magnificent Doom Bar Rock!
Though with all its beauty, be warned, this beach is a very popular spot for beginners with large crowds in the waters!

Perranporths huge and stunning beach with golden sands offers a good shore break at low tide for the more experienced surfers while high tide offers a mellower wave for beginners. You will struggle to find many places with as much of a beach town vibe as Perranporth on a summer’s day. You will find plenty of surf shops, cafes and assorted holiday shops lining the high street which is barely a stone’s throw from the vast sands of Perranporth beach. You can also head to the Watering Hole which is the UK’s only bar on the beach located well and truly on the sand. Here you can sit back, relax and grab a drink and a bite to eat while watching the surfers!
If you’re lucky enough, in the early morning you also may see a few horses and their riders having a paddle in the surf!

Without a doubt, this mile and a half long beach truly provides a perfect spot for surfers at all levels throughout the tides! The beach is patrolled every day by lifeguards with various beach cafes, restaurants where you can induldge in some yummy beach-side food or grab a beer making it a perfect spot to chill out with your friends and family!
Widemouth Beach is also Outdoor Adventures Bude surf lessons spot. We offer lessons twice a day for all levels and capabilities with our qualified instructors throughout the summer period!
