We are ideally suited for Primary Schools!
Two key reasons why we are an Activity Centre ideally suited for Primary Schools: firstly, our small size and secondly, the experience and special approach of our staff team. Outdoor Adventure caters for a maximum of sixty pupils which enable the instructors to really get to know and give each pupil a very personal experience. The programme is genuinely tailored to your group and can be delivered with a calm and unrushed approach enabling teachers to enjoy the experience along side their pupils. They get the opportunity to really get to know their pupils and make that essential bond which we are told makes all the difference when back at school. The pupils get to see their teachers in a totally different setting and by sharing all the new experiences with them, trust and team spirit builds throughout the week. For Year Groups it allows us to offer your school sole occupancy of our Centre which is now very unusual in this industry.
For many children this is often their first time away from home and can be a very powerful learning experience. To watch some go quickly from being homesick, to chatting on our front lawn with their friends is always very rewarding. Everyday pupils have opportunities to experience success and to celebrate their achievements, making a real difference to their self esteem and confidence.
On the teambuilding challenges we have fun looking at the vital ingredients that make up a true team and how to be positive and enthusiastic about solving problems. We look at what makes someone a good communicator and put active listening to the test! Pupils become aware that everyone’s opinion and input matters and are encouraged to look for and value the strengths in others and respect each others differences.
All the activities take place close to the centre, in stunning locations where pupils get to experience the real activity in an inspiring environment, rather than on man-made climbing walls and towers and are within walking distance or just a short minibus ride away.
Our review and reflection area looking out across the ocean gives a great opportunity for teachers and pupils to reflect on the day and think about what everyone has learned about themselves and others, as well as how they can benefit from this back at school and in other areas of their life.
These residentials prove very effective in supporting many of the Key Stage 2 curriculum requirements such as key skills, PSHE and citizenship.
