Surfing lessons with the best coaches in the business. OA Surf School, Widemouth Bay, Bude, Cornwall

Our local beaches pick up the best of any swell arriving in the south west – the surf is the same as Newquay but without the crowds.

The majority of our sessions are run at Widemouth bay which as a large sandy uncrowded beach is ideal for learning or even improving your surfing. Widemouth Bay is 5 minutes from the centre and faces dead west straight out to the Atlantic Ocean, Widemouth picks up the best of any swell running and can still have a rideable wave when many beaches in Cornwall and Devon are flat. Widemouth can also handle waves up to 6ft at any stage of tide.

We can also go on surfari to show you different breaks, there are 4 main beaches within a 20 minute drive of the centre.

Northcott and Sandymouth are two beaches we often use; they are at their best between 2 and 4 feet and are mostly surfed at low tide. They have a more powerful wave than Widemouth. This gives a variety of choices as they all work in different swell sizes, wind direction and stages of tide.

Widemouth bay has a blue flag award and is recommended by the Marine Conservation Society for its clean water. This is the highest standard in the UK and is only awarded for excellent water quality.
