If you are new to surfing we will take you through all you need to know to get you up and riding. We start with an introduction to surf safety, your board, how to get out through the waves, and most importantly how to catch them! Then we get in the water so you can get a feel for the board. Once you are catching waves comfortably and riding them prone (lying down) its back to the beach where we will show you some techniques for standing up before heading back into the water. Here we will do our best to maximise your time. We will coach you while you practice what you have learnt for the rest of the session.

What Happens?
When you arrive at OA Surf school you will find free car parking and be able to check the surf from our cliff top location. In Reception you will get a warm welcome and be directed to our Boardriders bar, where you can help yourselves to hot and cold drinks. Your instructor will provide you with a well-fitting, quality wetsuit and show you to the changing rooms. After changing in the warm and dry (you can leave any valuables in reception) it's then onto one of our minibuses for the drive to the beach. Once at Widemouth Bay we will provide you with a board to suit your level of surfing and make our way onto the sand.
At the end of the session we jump back into the minibus, crank up the stereo and head back to the centre. Here you can peel your wetsuit off undercover before rinsing it and enjoying a hot shower. Once warm and dry you can make the most of our tea and coffee making facilities, and we’ve got squash for the kids too!
