If you can already surf a little it is time to take things further. We coach our more advanced surfers slightly differently from the novices. We work with you to identify the next step in your surfing progress. We find out by chatting to you and watching your performance in the water. Then when it’s time for you to start catching green waves, performing top and bottom turns, cutting back on a wave or even just perfecting your stance, we will talk you through the theory and then coach you through your performance in the water.
Half day, Full day and Weekend courses
We can coach a variety of ability levels on our courses, our coaches are qualified to BSA Level 3 so are able to coach up to competition standard. We coach the theory on the beach then once in the water you will receive individual attention. Our instructors are skilled at spotting those little things that can make all the difference between success and a wipe-out! Every surfer hits plateaus with their performance so if you want to catch green waves, turn, learn or perfect manoeuvres or just stand up for a little longer we can help.

What Happens?
When you arrive at OA Surf school you will find free car parking and be able to check the surf from our cliff top location. In Reception you will get a warm welcome and be directed to our Boardriders bar, where you can help yourselves to hot and cold drinks. Your instructor will provide you with a warm wetsuit and direct you to the changing rooms. After changing in the warm and dry (you can leave any valuables in reception) its then onto one of our minibuses for the drive to the beach. Once at Widemouth Bay we will provide you with a board to suit your level of surfing and make our way onto the sand.
At the end of the session we jump back into the minibus, crank up the stereo and head back to the centre. Here you can peel your wetsuit off undercover before rinsing it and enjoying a hot shower. Once warm and dry you can make the most of our tea and coffee making facilities, and we’ve got squash for the kids too!
