Continuing our theme of videos that we filmed last season here is a surf session run by Rudi – who has returned to instruct for us this season. A beautiful sunny summers day – which in the middle of February we could all do with!
Over the past season we have been filming our centre, grounds and various activities. To keep us busy over the winter we have been producing videos and we will be uploading these videos on Youtube for you all to get an insight into Outdoor Adventure and experience the centre and activites in a different way that can not be achieved from the website.
To start us off here is a short video showing our centre and the amazing view out the front.
So we missed out on all the snow down here at Outdoor Adventure but over the past few days we have had some stunning frosty white mornings. This is the view when we come to work, not a bad way to start the day!
So after a long season that started at the beginning of February we have now come to the last few groups of the season and that seemed a perfect time to publish a photo of the staff team from earlier in the year.
Over the next few weeks the staff are preparing for their winter travels ranging from New Zealand to Morocco, where they will soak up the sun and surf and return raring to go for next season.
Friday 24th September saw the 5th Outdoor Adventure Surf festival run in association with the Callington Schools partnership. The day greeted us with challenging conditions of both strong northerly winds and 4-6ft of messy surf but this did not deter the enthusiasm of the 50 students who were competing from 5 local schools – Budehaven, Saltash, Wadebridge, Camelford and Bodmin.
OA Surf Festival Presentation
A tag team format was used for the intermediate surfers with teams of 6 competing for the top spot and prizes, each team consisted of 4 boys and 2 girls and all teams surfed 2 40minute heats. The advanced surfers had a normal competition format finishing with a final held for both boys and girls, the winners of this category won a place in the quarter finals of the English Schools surf competition held in October in Newquay.
After a closely fought competition Liam Turner won the boys division and Emily Currie won the girls.
Saltash took the top spot in the tag team competition, with Camelford coming second.
Outdoor Adventure would like to thank its sponsors Hi-life surf shop and Circle One.
So it’s been a busy end to the first part of our season here at Outdoor and as the schools have now broken up we’re back to running family activity holidays throughout August.
The team all love this part of the season – many families have been coming for years and it’s always good to see the little ones grow up and become really good little surf dudes! We always have lots of new faces to get to know too and this year is no different – we’ve all become really good at learning names (and creating nicknames!) Continue reading →
