On Friday 30th September for the 6th year we run our Inter Schools Surf Competition in association with ARENA who also organised a beach festival . Around 200 children from local schools were involved in a mixture of Surfing, Beach Volleyball, Beach football and a cyclocross competition.
You couldn’t get a better day for a surf competition with stunning sunshine and a perfect 3ft wave rolling in, when the children arrived at midday they couldn’t believe there eyes and were stoked to be spending the afternoon out of school and at the beach.
60 children were involved in two categories of the surf competition, an intermediate tag team event and an advanced surf comp. After a close fought tag team event Budehaven took the honours with Camelford coming second. Budehaven infact took top spots all round with Jobe Harris taking home the win in the boys event and Emily Currie the Girls.

So the summer holidays are upon us and we have had the final School group leave us on Friday, we have had many superb schools visit us for their activity weeks and we cant wait for them to come back to us next year.
This time of year marks a change in the season for us at Outdoor Adventure as we welcomed the first families groups to arrive to us on Sunday.
We are also running surf lessons every day from Widemouth Bay – come down and see us we are opposite the Lifeguard hut in the middle of the beach – you can spot our trailer from a mile off!
We are also running Coasteering sessions every other day – give us a call to book in and take part in this exhilirating activity!
On Wednesday 15th June Outdoor Adventure sponsored the RNLI Bude lifeboat run for the second year running.

One of Outdoor Adventures instructors, Tommy took part and came home very respectfully in the front half of the fleet, he could have done better if he hadn’t wasted all his energy on his photoshoot beforehand!
The event raised over £100 and has yet to include the runners sponser money. The money raised forom this event will help fund the RNLI’s work in saving lives at sea and on inland waterways and will be used where the RNLI feels needs are the greatest

Another liitle video that we filmed last season, this showcases our amazing 80ft abseil down onto the beach – stunning views from the top. Instructor Andy makes sure you are tied in properly and talks you through the technique for abseiling, whilst controlling the safety line untill you are safely at the bottom.

So the new season has come round very quickly, we are not sure where the winter has gone – but the staff are back from their travels and we have had some great schools in already enjoying the freshly decorated building and activities – although it has been a bit frosty in the sea.
Over the past week spring feels like it has finally started to show itself, the water is slowly warming up, the shorts have appeared and the staffs tans are starting to darken.
It takes allsorts to come on an activity week or weekend and here is a picture of our latest arrivals who turned up yesterday afternoon!!!

Continuing our theme of videos that we filmed last season here is a surf session run by Rudi – who has returned to instruct for us this season. A beautiful sunny summers day – which in the middle of February we could all do with!
Over the past season we have been filming our centre, grounds and various activities. To keep us busy over the winter we have been producing videos and we will be uploading these videos on Youtube for you all to get an insight into Outdoor Adventure and experience the centre and activites in a different way that can not be achieved from the website.
